Are you a Guam public school teacher, counselor, or librarian looking for culturally-relevant, place-based learning materials for your classroom?

The Nihi Educational Resource Library is free and available online today! Sign up for access to a searchable collection of culture-based videos and lesson plans to enrich your classroom, all organized by grade level, subject area, and topic.

WHY NIHI MEDIA?

  • Our videos feature a dynamic cast of children, elders, and community members from our island and region.

  • It gives students an opportunity to see themselves and their cultures on the screen.

  • Nihi media explores a wide variety of educational topics to fit your needs, with relevant examples from our own backyard.

HOW CAN NIHI MEDIA HELP IN YOUR CLASSROOM?

  • Maybe you’re a Chamoru teacher needing access to new video resources for your language lessons—enjoy original chants and songs about our native plants and animals, and segments on our unique Chamoru traditions.

  • If you’re a science teacher reviewing life sciences, check out our videos on invasive species and ecosystems of Guam.

  • Teaching social studies and covering regional news? Engage with local student perspectives with Nihi’s current event media relevant to our islands.

  • Whatever your focus, Nihi media resources are here to strengthen your lesson plans by helping your students connect with what they're learning in textbooks.

HOW DOES THE LIBRARY WORK?

Teachers begin by enrolling below! Signing up means that you commit to using some of the media resources in your classroom and logging in to the library once a month. Participants will also have:

  • access to a Resource Library training workshop

  • the opportunity to send us your ideas for new Nihi videos you’d want to use in your classroom

  • the option to submit original lesson plans to share with other participating teachers

  • a user-feedback system so we can make adjustments to the platform to better serve your needs
